Meet the Artist

Bri Bussé

Artist' Statement

I use sensitive mediums; ones that aren’t often forgiving of their interactions: watercolor paints, archival pens, and woodburning tools. With these, I create ethereal pieces that feverishly give form to my fleeting moments of artistic thought. Working adjacent to the practices of surrealism and pointillism, I find comfort in the details of art. My work should not just be viewed only as the end products of my creative process, but as the pieces to a whole. These paintings, illustrations, and watercolor-overlayed-woodburnings are the sum of thousands of tiny brush strokes, insignificant specs, and hurried burn marks.

With my work, I push myself, and my reality into art. Every piece, in their own way, is a form of self-portraiture. I am informed by my queer experiences. I carry this into my art to meld forms together that would otherwise never interact in environments other than my final pieces.

Thank you for viewing my art. Through this you know me.
